Does the ancient practice of meditation fit into a modern lifestyle?
A woman named Sue called me recently and said, “My best friend took your Inner Source Meditation course and says it has changed her life. She suggested I learn, too, but with a family and full-time job I can’t imagine carving out a time and place every day for this practice. Should I wait ’til my life is more settled before I learn to meditate?”
Sound familiar? In our 24/7 world, it seems like many of us struggle to keep our heads above water. Which is part of the problem. As we burn the candle at both ends, we get exhausted, sleep less, become confused–and our health, relationships and productivity suffer. We tend to feel overwhelmed and revert to survival mode.
The paradox? Feeling maxed out is exactly why it’s important to make time in your life to meditate! By gaining access to your Inner Source, you release stress and tap an inner sanctuary of quiet, centered awareness. The payoff? By refreshing you, meditation helps restore balance so you can effectively meet the challenges in your life.
My clients report that they actually save time during their day and enjoy life more when they make meditation a priority. As the practical benefits begin to accumulate in daily life, they regard those meditation periods as the best possible investment of their time. Mental clarity improves, they become more efficient, they sleep better and have more energy, their relationships flourish. So, rather than being another chore on your “to do” list, meditation provides a powerful key for living the life you want.
And here’s a question: Which of the following places is most conducive to successful meditation?
• A cottage on the ocean
• Your office
• An ashram in India
• An airplane
• Your favorite chair at home
The answer? All of them! Of course, it’s ideal to have a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed. But the truth is, anyplace you can sit and close your eyes, you can meditate successfully. It’s more important to meditate consistently and integrate it into the reality of your life than it is to do it in your favorite chair!
I invite you to free yourself from the mental “can’t do” trap and enjoy the miraculous process of unfolding your full potential. Instead of waiting for the perfect moment to meditate, meditate and learn to enjoy the perfection in every moment of your life.
